Why I Helped Get Gatsby and Daisy Together

When Gatsby pulled me inside to talk at one of his extraordinary parties, I was so unsure of what he could possibly have to say to me. He started out by explaining away all of the conspiracies associated with him. After telling me all of that he began to explain his history with Daisy. The way he talked about her made my heart absolutely melt! He explained that they were deeply in love before the war and now he wants to rekindle that. His plan was for me to convince Nick to invite Daisy over his house for tea, at which time Jay would arrive, being as they are neighbors.
After I talked with Gatsby at the party, my mind was filled with such intriguing news! I was so excited to share this with Nick, and I was sure he’d be just as amiable to help Gatsby with this lovely endeavor. We both knew that Daisy's marriage was on the rocks, and I knew that Daisy would glow with joy to know that Gatsby still loved her. We all knew how terribly Tom treated Daisy; he was always aggressive and unfaithful. I feared that this unhinged nature of Tom’s could come around to hurt Daisy if he found out about this arrangement. I told Nick my concerns, but Nick didn’t seem worried.

The way Gatsby spoke so fondly of Daisy really sealed the deal for me. I wish I could go back in time and convince Daisy to wait for Gatsby while he was away at war. I’m just happy that the two of them have a chance at love again.

  1. Jordan,
You have always been like a sister to me. Without you, I would have never seen Jay again. You were the one who convinced Nicky to set up a meeting between Jay and I. Part of me also wishes that things could have been different and that I would have waited for Jay and not move on. But the past is in the past, and we have to live in the now. Thank you Jordan so much for your kindness and understanding.
    With Love,
    Daisy

  2. Jordan,
May I start off by saying it was a pleasure to meet you through Daisy. I did complete the request that Gatsby asked you to pass on to me. They met at my house for tea one day and really hit it off. Of course I worry about Tom's behavior towards Daisy, but we both know Gatsby would get to Tom before he could hurt Daisy. You have always been such a good friend to Daisy, and for that I thank you. With her situation, it is necessary for her to have someone she can trust so much and be herself around.
    Sincerely,
    Nick Carraway

  3. Jordan,
I will never be able to thank you and Nick enough for what you both did for Jay and I. I wish we could go back in time so if you told me to wait for Jay, I would have. Meeting with Jay again after so many years made me realize how awful my marriage was and how much I still loved Jay. I also realized how much he still loved me and that made me extremely happy. I wish things could have been different and turned out different for me and Jay but I am still so thankful for you convincing Nick to have Jay and I meet. Thank you for everything.
    Love,
    Daisy

  4. Jordan,
I can't thank you enough for helping me to get back together with Daisy. I hadn't seen her since before I left for war. The moment that I saw her at Nick's house was a moment that I will never forget. I was filled with emotions. You gave me the love of my life back, and I don't know how I'll ever repay you.
    Love,
    Jay
